On Friday, FFC Barcelona and Chelsea FC will offer soccer fans an early morning treat in the Far East. The teams will face off Tuesday in Saitama, Japan, in a Rakuten Cup game, which pits Spanish- and English-soccer powers against one another in preseason action.

Barcelona is just beginning its slate of preseason games, and fans will be keen to see how new signings Antoine Griezmann, Frenkie de Jong and Neto perform in their first outings with the team. Meanwhile, Chelsea will look to bounce back from Friday’s loss to Kawasaki Frontale. ESPN2 will broadcast Barcelona versus Chelsea. Here’s how to watch the game online.

rank Lampard tasted defeat for the first time since he was appointed as the Blues new coach, with his team suffering an unexpected 1-0 defeat against J-League side Kawasaki Frontale.

The defending Europa League champions have won just one of their three preseason friendlies so far, but new signing Christian Pulisic isn’t particularly concerned.

“I’m really happy to be here with the team and to get in an actual match for the first time feels really good,” the American, who made his first appearance in a Chelsea shirt when he came on as a substitute against Kawasaki, told ChelseaTV after the game.

“We wanted to come out with a win, but I’m definitely happy. They were a very good opponent. They tested us for 90 minutes and they scored a good goal in the end.”

Even though its preparation is at a more advanced stage than Barcelona, Chelsea could face an ever sterner test against the five-time Champions League winners.

The reigning La Liga champions are yet to play a game this summer, with the match against Chelsea kicking off a two-game stand in Japan, before they take on Arsenal at home and then back-to-back fixtures against Napoli in the U.S. next month.

Less than a year later, however, he joined Barcelona, triggering the ire of his former club. Atletico, which reported its La Liga rivals to FIFA over an illegal approach for Griezmann in December 2017, believes Barcelona has not paid the full amount for the Frenchman.

Griezmann’s release clause dropped from $224 million to $134 million on July 1 and Atletico insisted Barcelona should have paid the former amount, which was the player’s value when he began negotiating with the club.
